Working on behalf of Scottish & Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN), we supplied and manufactured all steelwork for the new overhead line and delivered extensions to the existing Port Ann connection. This scheme enabled new renewable energy generation to connect to the grid while strengthening the long‑term security of electricity supply.
Over the 29-month programme we delivered 272 lattice towers, each supplied as erection-ready kits to maximise on-site efficiency. Prior to production, we also undertook prototype “check erection” assemblies for bespoke leg extension designs to ensure accuracy and constructability.
In collaboration with Balfour Beatty, the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contractor for the project, we developed a phased production and delivery schedule aligned to the construction programme to optimise productivity and material utilisation.
Our proactive collaboration with Balfour Beatty and SSEN and the use of a project BIM system enabled us to manage risks effectively, ensuring all tower steelwork was delivered on time – demonstrating our ability to deliver complex, large-scale transmission infrastructure safely and reliably.
